I have been enjoying all the 2017 Color of the Year reveals! Therefore, I wanted to take some time to review one of them. Today’s color is taupe! Taupe has been chosen as a color of the year by Sherwin Williams with their paint Poised Taupe. I wanted to showcase this and some other taupes I have found and share that embracing the soft side can be a beautiful thing.
One of the biggest color trends I have been seeing this year is the introduction of grey. This color is attractive in modern
Alright, let’s jump in!
Sherwin Williams Poised Taupe
These cabinets are stunning! The designer of this home definitely used the color right. Though it’s not something you might typically see, it is YCC approved.
The cabinets are beautiful, and I love that they are carefully paired with gold and light wood. The wood helps even out the pinks and showcases a soft, warm taupe.
Benjamin Moore Smokey Taupe
Benjamin Moore’s Smokey Taupe 983 is PERFECT for a nursery, like the one above from Kristina Ashley Interiors. She did a good job in her design, of course, but the taupe warms the room and tones down the pink, lending a more sophisticated look.
It is fantastic when paired with pink, as shown in the picture above! It will tone it down so that it isn’t as overwhelming. As a result, t
Here is another photo from Kristina Ashley’s design. She is a talented and creative designer and did such a wonderful job of incorporating this color into the nursery.
Benjamin Moore Stone Hearth
Sometimes it can read a little more green, like Stone Hearth 984 from Benjamin Moore. This color is more masculine than the paint colors featured above, which read more on the pink/purple side.
I love how it is paired in the picture above. The cream accents help brighten the room, and the Stone Hearth gives warmth to space.
Sherwin Williams
Sherwin Williams is my go-to taupe in color consultations. It works beautifully on cabinets and provides a warm neutral on the walls.
How fun is this room from Patsy Overton? I really love the blue on the ceiling.
That is part of its charm in my opinion!
Taupe really is the perfect neutral, and today I showed you the many varieties it can come in. We saw light shades and darker shades, as well as warm-toned and cool-toned taupes. Not all colors are created equally. When you say you want taupe, you aren’t always going to get you the color you desire.
Overall, I agree that Poised Taupe is the perfect choice from Sherwin Williams for their 2017 color of the year. It is a warm color with a hint of pink and softness that pairs well with natural woods and metal finishes.
