Color Spotlight: Kendall Charcoal from Benjamin Moore

One of my all-time favorite paint colors is Kendall Charcoal from Benjamin Moore. I suggest it often to clients for cabinets, accent walls, ceilings, and moody rooms.

It is a darker grey, so it can scare some people away. However, I encourage you to consider it for your home. I will show you today how much luxury it can add to any space.

When paired with the right colors, it can feel rich and beautiful as opposed to dark and depressing. Let’s now dive into how you can use this deep color in your home!

When I suggested Kendall Charcoal From Benjamin Moore Paints to my client for the cabinets above, they were a bit nervous. They were concerned that it would look too dark. I assured them that the room would not feel dark, but rather custom and updated. We chose Edgecomb Gray for the walls which provide a nice, neutral backdrop. Because it is a lot lighter of a gray than Kendall Charcoal, it acts as a brightening factor for the room. It is also grey, so it paired well.

This color is also beautiful against a clean white trim or paint color for crest contrast, like in the picture above. It is a green/gray paint meaning there is a slight green undertone to it.

Here it is in one room designed by Emily Henderson, isn’t that contrast great! The pop of red in the art creates such an interesting focal point.

The pairing of white, grey and red here invoke a very classic feel. The framed, symmetrically placed photos as well as the perfectly curated bookshelves add to the classic feel. IC: Dwell.com

Because this color is so rich and bold, it can really be paired with a variety of colors. It even looks terrific in this above room with blue accents! As I said above, it has a little bit of a green undertone, so it looks great with cooler colors.

This space looks luxurious because the colors are both so rich and dreamy. Jewel tones like the one above really add something to the gray.

On the exterior, Kendall Charcoal is a showstopper! The use of color blocking with the color is so fun here on this home I found online. Again, it adds such a modern look and feels to the home. You can see that it is paired with brown and taupe accents. I told you it was versatile, didn’t I?

If you’re looking for a great color for accents, cabinets, or even trim, I suggest testing this color! Okay, now it’s your turn, have you used a darker color in your home? Was it Kendall Charcoal? Let me know in the comments below!
